In Kyoto, where clay cannot be mined, ceramists have developed their own firing techniques, different from those in other regions. By incorporating new ideas and designs to traditional techniques, they create unique pieces. Traditional techniques and materials are followed, but adapting the work to contemporary needs and trends and combining tradition and innovation in pursuit of a unique aesthetic and style. This gives rise to the works on display in the exhibition. The aim of the exhibition is not only to present the works of individual ceramic artists in Kyoto, but also to bring out the fascination of different cultures and techniques through the interaction and contrast between their works.
